Rainy Day

Yesterday we left for Home Depot to find a few items to do some work around the house. We drove under a very sunny sky, but when we left the store, there was a really dark cloud right above us. Before we got home, it started to rain, and I was so glad it was because we really needed some rain.

We got out of the car and while I was getting everything out, David decided to play in the rain. He kept going in and out, but most of the time he stayed in the rain.

At some point he saw their little pool and decided to bring it out to fill it with the rain water. He stared at it....

He played a little more and then he thought that it was probably safer to use the swimming vest, so he made me put it on him. I thought he was going to get in the pool but he just walked around it.

 Until.....

Yes he did! It was pretty funny to see him in the tiny pool with a swimming vest on! Ha ha!

Before all this, this little guy didn't want to play, and not even a picture he let me take. But later... he got brave and started to jump in the puddles and played with his dinosaurs.

He is happy now :)

The rain didn't last more than 25 minutes, but they both had fun playing in it and I enjoyed seeing them as well.

Last but not least, this is what you get when humidity strikes your hair!

Scary I know, I'm left with crazy hair, this...

... and the best of all, some good laughs and good times.

Happy weekend to all!

Lately...

...We've been busy.

Thinking,

Wishing,

Doing,

Not doing,

Swimming,

Visiting,

Reflecting

Imagining...

We as a family have so many dreams and things we would like to get accomplished. There are so many things that at the moment we cannot do for different reasons, whether it is finances or time.

Some days are difficult and overwhelming, while some others are easy and amazing, yet, we still learn from both; it is just that some days are harder to understand the why of whatever we are asking ourselves.

But, one thing I know for sure, we are doing everything at the time and place it needs to be done. I know for certain that we are savoring every single blessing God has given us and we appreciate and value each other in the most simple of the activities we are doing.

Andy and Kate Spade Home

I want to share this home with you guys because I think it's incredible! It is the home of the famous designer Kate Spade, yes ladies, that lady.

My favorite part is the amount of art the have all over the house from paintings to sculptures and they are all so beautifully placed. I love gallery walls and they have them everywhere around their home. Man, I love this house!

Take a look at some pictures...

You can take a look at the rest of the house HERE. This is one of my favorite sites to look at, enjoy and have a great weekend!

Happy Independence Day Colombia!

So for the ones who don't know me, I was born and raised in Colombia, South America. And today is its Independence Day! And of course I had to make note of it and dedicate a post to my birth country.

Colombia is known mainly for it's drug war and violence that had ripped the peace of the country in pieces for many many years, and being the main reason why many leave in search of a better life somewhere around the world, yet, we always go back, because after all is our home and there are also many good things about it.

There are many pretty and colorful neighborhoods

Stunning architecture

Cultural, educative and artistic places and artists

 And what about the topography?

And the artistic talent of Native Indigenas...

And the beaches....

The yummy food and exotic fruits

Musicians

Cultural diversity

See, Colombia has positive things also, and it is worth seeing it...

Kids Art Gallery Wall

I finally finished the Kids Art Gallery Wall!

I've been collecting artwork to put in the wall and after weeks of deliberation I chose the ones that were going in the wall. I may swap their artworks every once in a while for a change.

Here it is,

The gallery wall is in our guest room/playroom -former baby nursery-, and since we had bare walls across the entire room I thought this was the perfect room to do it and also add a pop of color. Pictures of the boys while painting and coloring were combined with their paintings. What do you think?

I really like how it turned out, and it actually looks a lot better in person :) The days have been cloudy so there was not enough of natural light shinning through the windows

One more thing checked off my list!

FYI, I've been working on the other gallery wall and it's actually pretty much finished. The only thing is, I have not been able to find the right mats for the last two frames, and that is the only thing that is holding me back from showing it. Wish me luck finding them!

Weekend Recap

We had a very relaxed weekend. We enjoy our wedding anniversary as a family with our two boys and we also helped celebrate some of our little friends 4th birthday party. Our friend Beth set up the birthday party as a Fair theme and everything was so neat and fun.

Attended mass on Sunday, and the boys behave really well. Little by little we see an improvement. We want them to share that special hour with us and let them get used it and learn, and even though they don't always behave very well, we still try.

Later that night we went over to Joe's grandparents home for a shrimp boil. Yum yum! It was so good and it is always nice to visit them. They really like having the boys over and I make the effort to go see them at least once a week. The boys love going over to their home so much that I have a hard time making them leave and get in the car :)

Well, that was it. See, just a very relaxed weekend at the Townsend Home.

Have a good week...

Wedding Anniversary

Today marks our wedding anniversary number 6!

We've been through good and bad moments but we are still together. We have our relationship in the hands of God and we constantly work in trying to understand, respect, tolerate, love, and communicate each other. No relationship is easy, but we decided to be life giving and to give in a little every once in a while.

We like each other, we love each other, we have fun together, we get bored together, and we could not live without each other. We were brought together from different parts of the world, from miles and miles apart to find each other at one specific place at a specific hour in time and day. We are meant to be together.

Our first dance on our wedding day

We got married in July, the middle of summer and it was scorching hot! I think we pulled it off in this picture :)

New Years Eve 2008

Helicopter Ride on our honey moon in Hawai. We loved it and had an awesome time!

Fun at the lake

We are not only hitting for many more years of happiness, health and love, but that each day is better than the last. Marriage requires lots of work and understanding, but we are willing to stick together and work together.

I love you amor

Well, I think I'm done. This only happens once a year so we might as well make a big deal :)

And last but not least, we want to wish Happy Birthday to a very special lady in our life. Joe's Grandmother Diane a.k.a Nana. She is an amazing lady and we could not be more thankful for everything she's done, specially while I was going to school. She helped me babysit a few days a week and that was the best help I could have ever get. Also, for the unconditional love she gives to our children. We love you bunches Nana!

Enjoy your cupcake ;)
