last days of swimming

We went to the University's Recreational Center Pool for a birthday party over the weekend and what a neat place it is. We have never been there and the kids enjoyed it. There is a lazy river, big slide, pool and kiddie pool. Honestly, the lazy river made me nervous at first but after a while I felt a little better because the boys seemed to be having fun and enjoying it.

Mr. D is getting A LOT more confident in the water, meaning, he goes under for a few seconds. Yes, it makes me nervous, but he knows when he needs to get back up. He LOVES doing it. Anthony does the same thing, he is actually swimming under water, but neither one of them knows how to float yet. We definitely need to practice that. They got the whole thing backwards I guess.

Muscadine grapes

We have a Muscadine grape vine in our backyard, and this year we have gotten lots of grapes. Since, we cannot eat them all, we decided to pick them out and give wine making a try. We'll see.

We have never try to do this. But it will be interesting to see how it turns out. Oh, and we also have a tree full of pears. This year we have been blessed, the weather has been lovely and mother Earth has given us abundance of fruit. I can't wait for the fall to pick some persimmon of our other tree. I think we'll make cookies with them.

last week

We've been practicing with Anthony on how to write his name and David wanted to do something too, so I got him to trace the letter A.

A dear friend set up a fun playdate at the Tumblebus, but sadly David didn't stay long.

I wonder what he was thinking of that little boy... He did share the chalk with him :)

I attempted to make eggplant parmesan for the first time, time consuming but it turned out ok, I think it just needed to cook a little longer and the slices needed to be thiner. Usually when I cook with eggplant I put it into pastas, soups, etc. A good way to add the veggies the boys would not normally eat into their meals. I also made for the first time, homemade tomato sauce, it was good. Very flavorful. Yes, I was proud. :) I think it helped that I added tons of garlic, herbs and spices.

The boys having a good time with a swivel chair at the self-storage place. Easy entertainment.

Guess what? Another one fell sick. This time little D with Bronchitis, but after some at-home- breathing treatments and meds, he began to feel much better.

We register for the summer reading program at the library and we read 171 books! I know it sounds, and it is at lot but we read A LOT. Every night we read at least, at least two books. Sometimes during the day we read another one and since we had a rough summer with sickness all around, we, of course read a lot more. They received a bag to carry their library books, wristband, certificates, and a free book.

Killing time playing checkers while waiting on their cousin to arrive.

Glosoli

Joe introduced me to this band named Sigur Ros (from Iceland) when we met and I have loved them ever since. I listened to them A LOT. It's just such cool music and even though I have no idea what they are saying, it seems to take your mind away for a while.

I've been chasing them for a while to be able to go see them but no luck. Hopefully one day we will be able to see them, and that day would be a very nice and fun day.

Joe is a lover of music, a total aficionado. I'm glad he is. I probably otherwise would not know of the amazing, cool, fun, crazy, beautiful music that is out there.

Thank you...

Are you guys enjoying the summer?

I can't believe school is about to start. Anthony is getting excited of going back, even though he keeps thinking that his old teacher is going to be there, but she won't. He still doesn't understand that she is gone to another school and that you usually change teacher when you move up. Last night however, he asked when he was going to start, I think he misses it a little.

We have been having a lot of fun this summer even though we were house bound a couple of weeks with the boys. You know, one with the hives then the other one with a cold that turned pneumonia. I have to say, that we handled it pretty good, I truly enjoyed that time of just chilling, doing house stuff, lots of crafts and painting, cleaning, organizing, and taking care of my little guys. It's my job and I love it. Some days are difficult of course, but I've learned to manage it better. All my patience prayers are becoming a reality little by little.

First ER visit

After almost a week with fever and a couple of days of a bad cough, we decided to take our little boy to the ER, on July 4th. Yep, our plans for the day changed but we didn't care one bit. Our boy was first.

We signed in and they actually took us right away. He was checked by the doctor and said that Anthony sounded like he had a sign on Pneumonia, something that developed in the last couple of days. I felt horrible! It's a serious issue and I honestly didn't imagine it could've been that bad. But, I was glad we had decided to head over to the hospital right after we woke up and after a sleepless night with barking-like sounds. At the ER he received  a breathing treatment, X-rays, and a shot in his booty - he didn't like the last one, it hurt really bad :(

Waiting on the medicine and shopping for some treats to enjoy once we got home.

David excited about the superman movie we got and our "car picnic" :)

At home resting and watching a movie

Now, on antibiotics to hopefully recover soon.

We spent the day a home resting in our comfortable nest as a family and everyone taking care of Anthony; he even received a little visit from his great-grand-parents.

While at the hospital we told him that we would ALWAYS take care of him, no matter how old he was; and that at one point, when he had his own children and he was sick, we would still take care of him, we would bring him mami's yummy chicken soup, and we would then take his little ones so he and his wife could take a rest and be able to be sick. He smiled.
