Tie-dye shirts

This is my very first time ever trying to do them. I can't say that I love how they turned out but it was worth the try. The boys on the other hand really loved the experience. 

I couldn't find the squeeze bottles so we used big droppers instead and pour the dyes in mason jars. Now, after doing, I have a better idea on how to mix the colors better so gradually change them and that I don't really need to soak them with the dye too much because the colors can bleed, but when you have two little guys helping and determined to use as much as possible, that's another story :)

Glow sticks and bath time

I bought some glow sticks the other day to use them during bath time one night. The ones I bought were not enough, but thankfully I had some more already where I keep all the crafts stuff. You do need a lot to make it brighter.

The glow sticks can be found at your craft store such as Michael's or also at the Dollar Store/Tree.

I hope you do it with your little ones, mine LOVED it and it was probably their longest bath :)

When we finished, they said they wanted to sleep with them, so they both got a couple of sticks and I spread the rest across their room as nightlights. Once they fell asleep I came and turn their actual night light on, just in case the glow sticks lost their glow during the night. 

Lava Lamps

I've seen them all over and I had one years ago, who didn't have a lava lamp ?:)

I saw a tutorial on how to make a lava lamp a while ago, and I thought it would be a great opportunity to show the boys the magic of science. I followed this tutorial if you want to try it at home. We didn't use the bottles from the tutorial, but used a couple of the canning jars I already had.

The boys LOVED it. They thought it was super neat to see the bubbles reacting and to see the color flow all around the jars.

Breakfast for Dinner

I make dinner pretty much every night of the week, some days we order pizza but we never have breakfast for dinner. This week we had a night of breakfast for dinner. 

This time we had whole wheat pita pockets with peanut butter and sliced strawberries inside, scrambled eggs, mango and watermelon with a green juice. Since the juice it's quite thick, I thin it a little bit with some cranberry juice. 

And why breakfast for dinner was one of our things to do this summer? Well, because we never have breakfast for dinner and the kids think that it exiting :)

Sunset boat cruise pre-Independence day. The weather was perfect for it and the sunset even more beautiful! 

 We painted a lot this week. I would say a little more than usual because we were sort of house-bound with a sick boy.

I had my annual Doctor's check up, I'm so healthy that he schedule me to come back in a year and a half, unless I need to go before. Yay for me!

Notice his polo shirt all button-up. He would not leave the house until ALL buttons were the way they were supposed to be :) And of course big brother had to do the same. Sillies!

Elephant sock puppets

The boys chose to make elephants as their sock puppets. I gathered some of my very old socks. I had to cut a pair to make the ear. 

Material:

- Socks

- Felt pom poms

- Goggly eyes

- Glue ( We used silicone )

- Pipe cleaners (for the nose)

- Batting (for the nose)

Cut the ears

Glue the pom poms and place goggly eyes on top. Leave a little bit the top of the sock to make the trunk of the elephant. I twisted some pipe cleaner around it but I later added some batting to make thicker and then wrapped the pipe cleaner again.

In the last pictures, it didn't have the batting in it but later you'll see the difference

I cut a little piece of felt to make his mouth

The boys took them outside to play with them. They were so happy with them that they couldn't wait to show papa
