Is this love

Is This Love- Bob Marley

I wanna love you and treat you right;
I wanna love you every day and every night:
We'll be together with a roof right over our heads;
We'll share the shelter of my single bed;
We'll share the same room, yeah! - for Jah provide the bread.
Is this love - is this love - is this love -
Is this love that I'm feelin'?
Is this love - is this love - is this love -
Is this love that I'm feelin'?
I wanna know - wanna know - wanna know now!
I got to know - got to know - got to know now!

I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I - I'm willing and able,
So I throw my cards on your table!
I wanna love you - I wanna love and treat - love and treat you right;
I wanna love you every day and every night:
We'll be together, yeah! - with a roof right over our heads;
We'll share the shelter, yeah, oh now! - of my single bed;
We'll share the same room, yeah! - for Jah provide the bread.

Is this love - is this love - is this love -

Is this love that I'm feelin'?
Is this love - is this love - is this love -
Is this love that I'm feelin'?
Wo-o-o-oah! Oh yes, I know; yes, I know - yes, I know now!
Yes, I know; yes, I know - yes, I know now!

I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I - I'm willing and able,
So I throw my cards on your table!
See: I wanna love ya, I wanna love and treat ya -
love and treat ya right.
I wanna love you every day and every night:
We'll be together, with a roof right over our heads!
We'll share the shelter of my single bed;
We'll share the same room, yeah! Jah provide the bread.
We'll share the shelter of my single bed -

All night on his big boy Bed!

So last night was David's second night on his big boy bed and he did great! He slept all night and woke up this morning, walked into our room really sweet saying mamma? mamma?

We picked him up and got him in bed with us. Kissed him and congratulated him. Now, I need to make myself take the crib apart and reorganize the nursery. I get a little choked up thinking once again that I my kids are growing up too fast, but thankful because we have enjoyed them and loved them so much.

This was him last night

We'll see how he does on his new bed from now on...

And this was our other monkey ready for the lights to be turn off, but excited to see his best friend on the other bed.

On this first one, he's pretending he is asleep

Sometimes I wish there was a pause bottom, but I can't prevent them from enjoying the cool things that are ahead. I just ask for patience and knowledge to teach us the right way to educate our boys and help create kind, loving, respectful human beings for the future.

Big Boy Bed already?

While we were in New Orleans, my mother-in-law called us and informed us that little Dave had escaped from the crib! What? No way! Oh Yes he did!

He had been trying to escape for a few times already but I guess it never did happen. So the first night we were gone, he decided to be brave and give Gram a treat of appearing walking down the hall with Barney on arms. Tada! He had escaped. She called us and told us that she had to find out how he was doing it, so she hid in a corner in the room and watched him get out of the crib, and it was also hard to contain her laughter haha!I can't imagine her giggling and covering her mouth in the corner of the room. Simply priceless.

Once we got back he did really good that night but did try to get out of the bed. I didn't let him. He slept really good that night and the one after, but yesterday morning we were woken up by his cries. Baby boy had escaped from the crib and sleepy as he was, probably lost his balance and didn't landed correctly. And guess what we did later that day? The boys and I headed to the store and bought a bed rail.

I have to be honest and say that I can't believe I'm about to have my two boys in big boy beds. Ahhhhh! I can't stand the though of it. But it is what it is and I will embrace the changes that life brings, because there is no way back. Fun reading nights are on the horizon, also, a bit a frustration at 10:30 pm from our part because our little ones would probably rather play than go to sleep. Together in the same room...

New Orleans

Joe and I went to New Orleans for the weekend for a little getaway together, and for my birthday as well. Just the two of us. Something we haven't done since.. we had the boys. It was nice to be together talking about soulful stuff, silly stuff, food, places, art, music, beignets (spell check?), muffaletas,  and how much we missed the boys among other things. Even though we missed the boys like crazy it was nice to be able to go to late night shows of bands and artists. We walked so much that our feet and legs were very sore (oh lazy bums!)-no wonder why there are Reflexology Massage places all over the New Orleans. VERY SMART.

Day 1.

Left Thursday afternoon and made it right for dinner. We ate at the Gumbo Shop and after dinner we walked some. Went for late night music and refreshments at Three Muses. Very cozy place.

 Day 2.

Breakfast at??? Cafe Du Monde of course! For some yummy beignets and coffee.

Went to the Saint Louis Cemetery which is full of character and history.

Tomb of Marie Lavoe. Voodoo queen.

For lunch we went to Central Grocery to try what we found out to be the best Muffaleta in town. Yum, that was good!

We scouted around the French Market.

After walking for hours under a 100 degree weather, we had to take a brake at our hotel. Took a nap, woke up, got ready and headed out for dinner. One of Joe's friends suggested to eat at Bayona. We didn't. Reservations strongly suggested because it's a small restaurant. Joe's grandparents suggested Antoine's. We couldn't because it was reserved for a wedding reception and also, we did not have the right clothes to go there. I guess next time. We ended up at NOLA, one of Emeril Lagasse's Restaurants. The food and service were outstanding!
After dinner we went to Preservation Hall to see the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Great atmosphere, and music in a super old place.

When the show was over we went to eat Gelatto at La Divina

Later that night we went to Blue Nile to see the Soul Rebels Brass Band. Great band, great music. But before the show started we hung out around and watched a young band tearing the block up with awesome music. It was sort of a block party. People dancing and singing everywhere. These guys stopped traffic! New Orleans is full of life, culture and flavor. Awesome city.

Long day, tired souls headed back to the hotel for a night of sleep and ready for the next.

Day 3

Happy Birthday to me :)

Breakfast at Cafe Du Monde. Oh yes, we did! My love got the trumpet guy outside and asked him to sing the Happy Birthday song to me. So sweet! And yes, I was a little embarrassed, but what the heck, it was my day.

Check the guy behind us doing the bunny ears ha!

Went to Magazine Street area and ate at Mahony's for lunch. The po-boys were good but the wait was way too long! Onion rings were really good and super thin. After this we rode the street car down St Charles Ave. Stopped for some drinks at New Orleans Original Daiquiris-they have non-alcoholic flavors as well. Went to mass at Loyola Church-what a beautiful place!

After a long hot humid day of walking we went back to shower and get ready for dinner. We ended up eating at Red Fish Grill. Great service and they gave us a free yummy dessert for my birthday. How nice of them...
Took a cab and went to Rock and Bowl! It was a fun place. Fun night we had bowling and watching and listening to Kermit Ruffins live. It was a great birthday!

Day 4

Our last day at the Big Easy. Yes we had breakfast at the place we did for the last three days. What an obsession! But they are so good and you might as well, since you are there.
Went back to the French Market and got a few souvenirs and gifts for the boys. Joe also got me also got me beautiful piece of art for my birthday, a painting.
Checked out at the hotel and picked some lunch at Jonny's Po-Boys that we ate at Congo Park. After eating we got in the car and headed back home to see our little munchkins...

Note: I may have missed a lot of the things we did because we did a lot and it a bit difficult to remember everything and be so detailed about it. But I hope you enjoyed reading as much as we had fun ,and also some info maybe useful to you when you want to go and see the city. Also, pictures are few of what we took with my phone and camera; that's why some don't look very sharp. AND, I can scratch one thing of my list. My visit to New Orleans.

WHEW...! That was a long post wasn't it?

28

Yes, I am 28 today, but I feel a lot younger than that. To be honest sometimes I forget how old I am because I just don't care. Aging is unstoppable and I rather embrace it, instead of complain or worry about it.

I am thankful for this new year of life and the countless blessings that God has given me. I am healthy, happy and loved. I am thankful because I can see, walk, talk, think, move, jump, swim, run, dance, write, read, hear and I could go on and on. I am thankful for my life and everything that is in it.

I have been working on my bucket list, and I made a list of things I would like to do during the next year. I've been thinking about them for a while now, probably since I was in school, but didn't have the time or energy to do it. These are the ones that made the list in no particular order:

1. Go Para-sailing. Who wants to go with me?

2. Go to New Orleans

3. Make at least 5 paintings -keep them, give them or sell them- no matter the size.

4. Go somewhere with my siblings one or two days. Just the four of us.

5. Take a cooking class

6. Attend a Cursillo Movement weekend

7. Fast once a month with just juices, water and prayer

8. Run a marathon or half marathon, well, maybe just a 5k to be more realistic

9. Let my nails grow, seriously, I need to quite biting them, yikes! I know, it's embarrassing sometimes...

10. Write a note or letter to my family members, for no particular reason, just because

11. Finish the baby albums and baby books

12. Buy me a piece of jewelry, something unique and different, with a pearl on it, my birthstone

13. Make our Christmas stockings, I haven't found what I want.

14. Finish our living room gallery wall

15. Do a gallery wall with all the kids arts and paintings

16. Volunteer

17. Read 5 books. I already have plenty of good choices

18. See Matisyahu

19. Host a cookie-swap party during Christmas

20. Go vegetarian for at least two weeks, I did one, I bet I can do two

21. Have an art-shop day for my kids and friends' kids

22. Learn how to make key lime pie

23. Learn how to make the perfect French Toast and surprise Joe with it.

24. Learn basic Italian vocabulary

25.Get a henna tattoo

26. Donate blood

27. Watch a movie at a drive-in

28. Have our family portrait taken

I will try to do all these within the next year. And as I get them accomplished I will write about them and scratch them off the list. I better get started soon! :)

Happy Birthday Dad !

Today is my dad's birthday, and I'm sad and nostalgic because I can't spend this special day with him. I love him and miss him every day.

He is fun, sweet, super smart, talented, creative, awesome dad and mentor, playful, funny,  inspiring, has a great driven force to overcome obstacles and fight for dreams, etc. He is just great!

Distance can separate us but our spirits are close and he is always in my heart. That is why today I wanted to have a post all about him.

New phase in my life

I've noticed that after I finished school I've been watching more t.v. than ever before. After the kids go to bed I get me a snack, treat and sometimes a glass of red wine, seat and watch my recorded t.v. shows. There have been days in which I go to bed at 1am and I end up waking up really tired the next morning. Very sleepy.

I've been "wasting" too much time in front of the t.v. instead of reading the books I've been wanting to read. I have not touched my paint brushes or pencils or charcoals. I have not exercised. I have not done many of the things I said I was going to do after I got out of school.

I really don't know how I managed all the things I had going on while in school. I don't know how I managed the time and re-energized to do what I had to do. Maybe it was because I felt somewhat obligated. I had to be responsible with school work, I had to show results. That is why I decided that I am going to continue to do what I used to do. I am going to read the books I had been wanting to read, and I am going to dust and clean my paint brushes and start painting once again. I am going to take my art classes more seriously and practice more.

My birthday is coming up and I feel like every day is going by very quickly, and I am not doing a lot of the things that make me the happiest.  I've been thinking of the things I would like to do in my next year of life, I've been thinking a lot. But for now, I am going to pretend that my life is my school and that I am going to do what I want to do, and been wanting to do, regardless, no excuses, I am going to do it. I want to feel happy doing what I like, and feel like I am taking advantage of the time God gives me every day, because every day is a gift, regardless if it's crappy, normal or just plain awesome.

Lesson of the day

We were watching Thomas the Train the other day, something we rarely do but the kids asked to keep watching it, and we did. And at the end of the episode there was a song with lyrics that were related to the episode, and this was my favorite part of the song.

"Whatever job you're doing
make sure you're doing it right
start each day the proper way
all polished, shinning bright

Do your best but still have fun
so when you come home at night
you can say in every way
you tried to do things right ..."

These song lines are the Lesson of the Day, have a great week!

Weekend

Joe was off this weekend and that is always a treat. We went to see Kung Fu Panda 2 and we loved it! I think Joe and I enjoyed it as much or more than the boys did. The movie is hilarious, fun and has awesome graphics. Go watch it, you'll like it.

I went to a baby shower to one of the daughters of my friend a.k.a. uncle Polo. He was the manager of the restaurant where I used to work and he and his family are really nice people and are very special to me. She is having daughter #2

Later that day, the boys played in the yard with sprinklers and water.

Applied lots of California Baby Bug Repellent to baby David, because he's got a really bad reaction to bug bites and I don't want to use the OFF staff, and besides, this one works really well

Picked my herbs and dried some

Appreciated my backyard and lovely things that are growing out

On Sunday we went to our nephew's 6th birthday party, and didn't take any pictures because I was having as much fun as the kids playing the moonwalk and ball pit. Oh, good time I had. I felt like a little girl once again. Today is his real birthday so

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB!
 WE LOVE U

He loves green, all things outdoors, camo, four wheelers, and super heros:)

I finished the day with a the Power Yoga DVD with Rodney Yee, that kicked my butt! Legs are pretty sore right now, but it did so good to my lower back. I will do it again.

Have a great week!
