Camping, hiking and Krispy Kreme

Once again we went to the Meditation House Joe got built to have an escape space from stress and noise. Last time we were there, we really enjoyed it and we said that we had to do that more often. So now, we are trying to make it as often as we can and when the weather permits.

The meditation house is such a nice place to be with your family, away from t.v or toys. We love it and we always have a good time.

Our favorite snack!

What is up with that face silly boy? :)

I don't drink soft drinks but this is my ultimate favorite, and every time we go to Atlanta I make sure I bring some home! I love it!

I like this picture, I think he looks extra handsome with the chainsaw....:)

This is the reason why I don't buy expensive sunglasses

Looking at papa do some work

????????

He is the ultimate yogi :)

See what I mean....?

Chillin'

Napping

Isn't pretty out there?

 Tired little guy

Story time!

Hiking back

Our first trip to Krispy Kreme together, let me tell you, the kids LOVED IT! And so did we:)

The weather is so beautiful to go outdoors and play, hike, ride a bike, read a book, relax or just do nothing; whatever your heart feels like!

Have a great week everybody :)

Concrete Sky

Faith has a good side
Still, everyone she ever loved,
They all turned bad
Constance has his own way of breathing
You know you couldn't will him to survive
Couldn't will him if you if you tried

There's a concrete sky
Falling from the trees again
And I know now why
It's not coming round too soon
It's harder than a heartbreak too

I've seen your good side
But I still don't know just what it is that you might want
See, you got your own way of moving
And you know you could save it

Save my soul
Save some for you
Hold my soul
I feel like I'm falling
I feel like I'm falling

And there's a concrete sky
Falling from the trees again
And I know now why
It's not coming 'round too soon
It's harder than a heartbreak too
It's tough enough what love will do

So much time
Got lost in my mind
But I know now what I must rely on
It's a sound, forgetting,
And the worst thing

I've been out walking,
Don't do too much talking
Don't take too much time
Wouldn't take all your time
'Cause it's as precious as mine

Save my soul
Save some for you
Save your soul
I feel like I'm falling
I feel like I'm falling

And there's a concrete sky
Falling from the trees again
And you know now why
It's not coming 'round too soon
It's harder than a heartbreak too
It's tough enough what love will do
And you're as precious as mine
And you're as precious as mine

Family Visit

The boys and I went to Atlanta Monday morning to see my family. I have missed them and I wanted to see them, so we took off. Anthony & David are really good on road trips, specially when you have the always magic portable DVD player. We watched a movie half way and the other half they slept- thank goodness!

We enjoyed every little moment together. We ate, shopped, snuggled, watched a movie, talked, smiled, gossiped, laughed, had some yummy Colombian treats, etc etc, all the things that family does.

Being away from family has thought me several things:

-Be kind to one another
-Try to get together as much as you can
-Trust in each other
-Give big hugs
-Be attentive
-Don't fight
-Enjoy the little moments without complain
-Stay together
-Call often
-Love your family and be thankful for them

Weekend

Did you all have a good weekend?

We did

We spent Saturday and Sunday in Birmingham visiting Joe's mom and stepdad. We played, went to the park, I worked out, ate at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and I have to say that their smoothies and flatbreads are so good! I had the Chicken Pesto Flatbread and the Acai Berry Boost. Oh, so yummy and healthy too! If there is one in your neighbohood, go and give it a try. So worth it.

On Sunday, we attended mass and later we went to eat at Chuy's and I had the Tacos al Carbon with blue corn tortillas! Rare ha? I enjoyed while I ate it, but a while after I felt really full, and I only ate the tacos not the rest of the meal, I couldn't, I just couldn't. I've noticed that after the detox, my body does not take meat very good, specially steak-something I don't eat often, and the first time after detox-. I also get full really easy now. My body defiinitely changed after eating so good and healthy for those seven days. Oh well, I did enjoy all the yummy food though and the wonderful company specially.

What did you do during the weekend?

I hope you have a great week!

Tree House

We have a tree house in our backyard, that was already built when we moved into the house we live now. It looks like is a very old tree house, and it needs some maintanance, but it's pretty neat because it sort of blends in with the rest of the trees.
The boys love to get up in the little tree house and so do I. We play, we pretend we are watching a movie outdoors, we pretend is a pirate ship, and on and on. A lot goes on in the tree house. We love it!

It was almost eight

First of all, there is a mistake with the title of the last post, it was not days 5 and 6 but 6 and 7. Yes, I completed seven days, and almost eight. I really wanted to add the juices and smoothies to this week, and I did, yesterday for lunch. I made a juice with the recipe of the book I bought last week, and let me tell you, that thing was not tasty at all! It took me forever to drink it and it left a strong after flavor, perhaps because of the ginger root. As soon as I finished it, I immediately felt like I had to vomit. I felt really bad. I did not vomit though, the felling went away after a while.

Detox Juice ingredients

-beets
-cucumber
-ginger root
-celery
-parsley
-lemon
-carrot

Later in the afternoon, I felt hungry and even more when I started making dinner, and by the time dinner was ready I made me a plate and ate it! Yes I did! What a bummer :( I really didn't enjoy it either. It seemed like my body was not prepared to receive such meal- ravioli with ground turkey- after eating so healthy for seven days. I didn't even eat that much but I felt sort of guilty for not even beginning the week I wanted to have. Oh well, I guess like Joe said "You hit the wall". Who knows what was on the other side, I would have like to know.

I guess it was not that bad for being my first time. It made me realize the importance of what we put in our bodies and how our bodies respond to it. And even though we eat pretty healthy at home, it is always necessary to clean our bodies of the bad stuff that has been accumulated throughout the years; so I am thinking that I can definitely do a seasonal detox, we'll see...

Detox day 5, 6 and volleyball

This weekend I completed days 5 and 6 of the four week detox plan. I am pretty convinced that I am not going to do it for 4 weeks. Even though I have not felt hungry, I do miss eating some other stuff.

Saturday was a fun day. We went to see our niece Kayla played volleyball and I have to say that she is one of the best players in her team if not the best! We got to see the grandparents, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and nephew. After this, we headed to Whole Foods to buy some of the veggies I have not been able to find at the stores in Tuscaloosa, to start my juices for detox/fast for this week. I love Whole Foods, they have so many neat things, all natural, organic products and things you can't find everywhere else. I told Joe that I could come to that store and be there all day, just browsing every single aisle and product, as a matter of fact,  I told him that we should go and have a Whole Foods date :)

Saturday Detox Menu:

-Before breakfast: cup of hot water with lemon

-Breakfast: Apple, carrot and cucumber juice

-Lunch: Broiled vegetable soup (onion, garlic, tomatoes, eggplant, red bell pepper, sun-dried tomato, herbs) with wheat-free bread

-Dinner: Pear, spinach and walnut salad from Nothing but Noodles. (I skip the blue cheese)

I did not dry-brushed my skin that night because I was too tired, I just went straight to bed. zzzzzz....

Sunday was also a good day. We went to mass in the morning, and then we went to see our niece to play volleyball again. In between games, Joe, my mother-in-law Sarah, Kielan  our nephew and I had a little soccer match and that was really really fun! Girls vs Boys. The girls also created a score celebration dance, so much fun and pretty funny too :) Boys won 6 to 5. Grrr!

After our soccer match we went back inside to see the next volleyball game. The game was really good and a little nerve-racking because they kept scoring points and the two teams were even most of the second half. Even though our niece's team did not win the game that would had taken them to the championship, we were all very proud of her for doing such a great job as team captain and for putting so much effort and talent into the game. Go GA 5!

On another note this was my Sunday Detox Menu:

-Before Breakfast: Cup of hot water with lemon

-Breakfast: Tropical smoothie (pineapple, papaya, almond milk, yogurt) and wheat free bread

-Lunch: Hummus with carrots, red bell peppers and celery

-Dinner: Broiled vegetable soup

-Tea
